Infection prophylaxis and infection therapy include the use of antibiotic bone cement and other antibiotic carriers. Depending on the indication, various substances are required for local antibiosis to ensure an efficient release of the agent. There is some controversy in the international literature about the efficiency and duration required for a successful therapy. There is a particular focus on the introduction of allografts with antibiotics and their use as local antibiotic carriers.1, 2, 3
